Merida Big Nine 20-D is a 29er hardtail mountain bike designed for the cross country mountain biking. Big Nine 20 is a great bike if you enjoy fast and flowing trails, with the 29 inch wheels allowing you to easily cruise over small obstacles and light terrain with minimal loss of speed and momentum. The larger 29 inch wheels are able to hit obstacles at a lesser angle than smaller wheel sizes, meaning reduced resistance and loss momentum as the bike rolls over the obstacle and continues along the trail. There is also improved traction as the big wheels allow for more tyre tread in contact with the ground.

29ers are also a favourable option for commuters. The big wheels are similar to that of a road bike, meaning the 29er is a quick mover across flat ground,with a comfortable, upright seating position that is favoured by some riders. The collection of mechanical parts that comprises the bike’s gearing and braking system features Shimano Altus which are aimed at beginner mountain bikers and thanks to the double butted frame, the bike is super light. Double butting increases the density of the material at both ends of the tube which reduces overall weight. Designed for durability, it also means they are well equipped for rough everyday riding over the varied terrain that can be found on some daily commutes.
